Daffodil Festival Team Work

Abingdon Ruritan Club and Author Dave Bowles (who is also Vice President of the Club) shared a booth at the Gloucester Daffodil Festival.

Club Members over the last month built a number of blue bird houses.  Interestingly enough, Dave Bowles has published two very successful books about a mocking bird that learns an important life lesson.  He has been invited to speak at elementary school in Gloucester and other areas. As a result, Ruritans sold bird houses with profits going to donations to numerous organizations which were displayed at the booth.  Dave chatted with hundreds of festival goers and sold his books.  This was a win-win for the community.  The photo shows Danny Privott, Chair of the Club’s Environmental Committee, Mary Lou Privott, and Dave Bowles during set up of the booth.  Other Club members who participated are not pictured but who played an important role during their shift over the two-day period are Dick Beasley, Barbara Priest, Doug Johnson, Wanda Sprouse, John Snyder, and Don Sciria.
